Testing Assessments

Smarter Balanced Assessments - The Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) is a system of assessments aligned to Washington state standards in English language arts/literacy (ELA/literacy) and mathematics for grades 3-5. If you have a 3rd, 4th or 5th grader, please be aware that we typically test in May. (We are unclear how or when testing will be conducted during the Covid-19 pandemic at this time.) It is essential that all students who are taking the SBA attend school these days. Please make doctor appointments on other days or before or after school. Your help in making sure your child is attending school well-rested, healthy, and fed on these days is appreciated.

CogAT - The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) is a K–12 test assessing students’ learned reasoning abilities in the three areas: verbal, nonverbal and quantitative. The CogAT is often used in admissions decisions for accelerated school programs. The CogAT is typically given to all first graders in November. (We are unclear how or when testing will be conducted during the Covid-19 pandemic at this time.)
